The Bush Junta does two seemingly opposing things at once, and pulls them both off.

1. It clearly, unemotionally, and coherently chronicles the Bush family and associate's rise to power, documenting as it does their ties with the Nazi Party, the Watergate break-in, Manuel Noriega, John Hinckley, Jr., the Carlyle Group, Saddam Hussein, the bin Laden family, the Project for the New American Century, the Iran hostage kidnappers, the 2000 election fraud--on and on. It also includes a 12-page listing of sources used in the making of the book, broken down by chapter.

2. It presents a wide range of stylistic and formal approaches to comic art. These include Jem Eaton's parody of a daily strip ("Hack Smith's 'Poppy the President'); Seth Tobocman's woodcut-inspired "Are You Better Off Today Than You Were Four Years Ago?"; Ethan Persoff and Jasun Heurta's "Your Very Own Information Campaign," which is told in a series of "flyers" meant to be easily photocopied and posted on telephone booths, in the subway, etc.; Carol Swain's moody docudrama "Florida 11/7/00"; and Peter Kuper's one-page, Orwellian "Ceci n'est pas une comic."
