And by the way, you think they don’t love movies in Paris? The Champo, a tiny revival house on the Rue Champollion, hard by the Sorbonne, where I used to watch old movies at 10 a.m. in the early ‘60s, was offering a special program every night at midnight. For one ticket of twelve euros (about fifteen dollars), you got consecutive showings of The Life of Brian (1979), The Meaning of Life (1983), and Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)—followed by breakfast at dawn. The cashier told me that the show for that night—well, morning—was sold out.
